Life In Cuba Isn't Easy.

With constant shortages of food, medicine, and veterinary care, animals are often the first to suffer. Many pets are abandoned when illness strikes or food runs out. Others are left to fend for themselves facing starvation, disease, and heartbreaking cruelty when their families flee the island.

To make matters worse, spaying and neutering are not common practice, leading to an ever-growing population of unwanted animals. With no enforced animal protection laws, street dogs and cats endure cruelty and abuse with no justice or consequences.

Cayo Coco Animal Rescue (formerly Brussy Rescue) is a Canadian, volunteer-based, grassroots organization working to change that. From our shelter in Morón, just outside of Cayo Coco, we rescue, heal, and rehome abandoned, abused, and injured dogs and cats. We offer a lifeline to the most vulnerable street and resort animals struggling to survive.

We believe every animal deserves kindness, safety, and a chance at a better life.

With the help of donations, flight volunteers, and community support, we provide food, medicine, and veterinary care to animals in need, and we find loving homes for as many as possible. For those who cannot be adopted, including seniors or animals with special needs, our shelter will always be their safe haven.

Our mission goes beyond animals as well. We support local communities by delivering humanitarian and medical supplies to hospitals, schools, orphanages, and families in need. By helping both people and animals, we build a stronger, more compassionate future for all.
